Devon Frazier never had a “Plan B”. She wanted to become an educator ever since the first grade. She desired to help children while leaving an impression on their lives. A native of Fairfield, Alabama, Devon graduated from Miles College with a dual degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She continued her education at Samford University to seek her masters in Educational Leadership. Once completing Miles College and becoming a teacher, she learned of the connection between literacy and the “school – to -prison pipeline”. Working primarily with Black, Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC children) and understanding this vital link, she decided to act by creating programs that emphasized reading and ensuring children had books to read at home. Seventeen years into her career as an educator, Devon elevated her passion and founded “I See Me, Inc.”. Its mission is to ensure that literacy is not a stumbling block for children of color in their quest for success. They now have throughout Central and South Alabama. Ms. Frazier is an alum of the City of Birmingham's Project Corporate Leadership and the Alabama Leadership Initiative. She has been heavily involved with the Alabama Education Association and served in the capacity of her local President and Vice President, Co-Chair of the Professional Rights and Responsibilities Commission and a member of the Board of Directors. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and Junior League of Birmingham. Devon has been honored by receiving several awards. She received the Dr. AG Gaston People’s Choice Award, Benton Auto Group Trailblazing Women presented by BBVA, Channel 13 News CommUNITY Champion, Protective Life Community Captain for the 79th McDonald’s Magic City Classic, Birmingham Business Journal 2021 Women To Watch and she was a finalist for 2022 CEO of the year of by the journal just to name a few! Ms. Frazier’s biggest honor is that of mother to her 14-year-old daughter, Kherington, who has given herself the title of “CEOIT”, (CEO in Training”).
