Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Jeremy Tavares Cody started his education at Spain Park High School where he graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors. He continued to matriculate through his prospectus at Miles College where he was Junior Class President, led the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), was a member of the Honors Curriculum, and joined Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. Additionally, he was a starting wide receiver and power forward for the football and basketball teams, respectfully, earning the 2011 Defensive Player of the Year award and being named to the 2010 SIAC All-Academic Team. He finished his curriculum at Miles College in 2011 with Summa Cum Laude honors earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Mathematics Education and receiving the Leadership-Sports Award from the Miles College Division of Education.
After a pursuit in professional basketball, Jeremy returned to his alma mater to become a mathematics teacher and basketball coach at Spain Park High School. For the past 10 years, utilizing the skill sets that he gained at Miles College and Spain Park High School, he has been a catalyst in the clinical information technology realm. He has been most notably known for his work as an experienced Clinical Application Analyst I at Encompass Health Corporation based in Birmingham, Alabama. He provides support for configuration, design, implementation, and troubleshooting for clinical applications in all the corporation’s 153 inpatient hospitals throughout the country. Through this position and interactions with the company’s inpatient rehabilitation facilities, he’s gained tremendous experience by training thousands of physicians. This experience created an excellent vessel to deploy his skill set in education. Although his passion for athletics remains, this opportunity has driven his passion to be an impactful educator, speaker, mentor, and leader in his community. Jeremy and his wife Marissa currently reside in Birmingham, Alabama.
