Jessica Barnes, a proud native of Birmingham, Alabama and a proud of the Birmingham city School System. She is a 2009 graduate of Miles College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Management with an impressive 3.75 GPA. With a remarkable career spanning 23 years in local government, Jessica has been an integral part of the City of Birmingham’s workforce. Her journey through various departments including Community Development, The City’s Attorney Office, Planning, Engineering & Permits, has led her to her current role as a Senior Analyst the Department of Public Works. Her dedication to serving the citizens of Birmingham and ensuring efficient communication for various city services is evident in her everyday work. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jessica’s community involvement shines.
She passionately engages in volunteer work with various organizations. As a dedicated member of Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, West End, she serves as Women’s Ministry President and Church Clerk. An extraordinary aspect of Jessica’s journey is her role as the State Led for Alabama with Voices of black Mothers United (VBMU). This organization in partnership with the Woodson Center, empowers Black mothers and community leaders to create safe and supportive environments, amplifying their voices and foster hope. Jessica is also a certified Victims Service Advocate with OVC Department of Justice. Jessica’s involvement reflects her passion for unity and healing, motivating others with her encouraging spirit. Guided the philosophy of treating others as she would like to be treated, Jessica radiates warmth and compassion to everyone she encounters in her interactions, fostering a more connected and caring community. Jessica is married to Willie, and they are blessed with six children.
