Shanta Bender is a Service Supervisor for the Alabama Department of Human Resources. Her day-to-day responsibilities include, supervision of staff and caseworkers, and oversight of safety decisions related to child welfare. Prior to this role, she held positions as a Social Worker, Social Service Caseworker, Independent Living Program (ILP) Coordinator, Trainer and Medical liaison. Prior to this career, she worked for a private non-profit facility speaking in Birmingham City Schools on the dangers of alcohol use, drug use and other health education topics. Shanta received her Bachelor of Social Work from Miles College, in Fairfield, Alabama and her Master of Social Work from Alabama A&M University in Normal, Alabama. Shanta also holds a graduate certificate in Christian Ministry from Liberty University. She is the founder of IMPACT, a ministry established in 2014, to encourage, equip, and empower girls and young women in the community, and teach them biblical truths that will help them learn to make God-pleasing decisions about the issues and challenges they face. Shanta is a God-fearing woman and believes that God is the head of her life. Outside of work, Shanta loves to spend time with her daughter and other loved ones, shopping, reading, blogging, listening to music and going to the movies.
